Colbert M. Matsumoto
Business Advisor

Mr. Matsumoto currently serves as the President of Island Holdings, Inc., and Chairman and CEO of Island Insurance Company, Ltd. In his role as a business advisor, Mr. Matsumoto leverages his wealth of business and legal knowledge, business contacts, and management experience to provide strategic direction for Hoike.

Mr. Matsumoto serves as a Board of Director for some of Hawaii's most notable companies, including City Bank, Hawaiian Host, Inc., and Sutter Health Pacific. As an active and recognized civic leader, he is also involved in various community organizations such as the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii and serves as a trustee for the State of Hawaii's Employee Retirement System. Mr. Matsumoto was recently recognized by Hawaii Business Magazine as one of the "Top 10 Powerbrokers" in Hawaii.

Prior to joining Island Holdings, Mr. Matsumoto practiced law in Hawaii for over 20 years as a founder and managing partner of Matsumoto LaFountaine & Chow. Before forming his own law firm, Mr. Matsumoto was a partner in the law firm of Fujiyama Duffy & Fujiyama.

Mr. Matsumoto earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California at Berkley, Boalt Hall and his Bachelor of Science in Sociology, magna cum laude, from the University of San Francisco.

Gerald I. Taniguchi
Business Advisor

Mr. Taniguchi is the president and owner of GIT Associates, Inc., a technology consulting firm based in Honolulu. Mr. Taniguchi has provided management consulting to some of Hawaii's leading organizations, including HMSA, Kamehameha Schools, and Queens Medical Center. Serving as a key business advisor to Hoike President, Riki Fujitani, Mr. Taniguchi brings over 35 years of proven leadership, business, and technical experience to Hoike. Mr. Taniguchi provides valuable direction to Hoike's operations and business development.

Prior to founding GIT Associates, Mr. Taniguchi spent more than 29 years at IBM in a variety of managerial, sales and marketing and technical roles. As the regional marketing manager, Mr. Taniguchi was responsible for all marketing and system engineering activities for the State of Hawaii.

Mr. Taniguchi also spent time in the U.S. mainland managing IBM's San Francisco and Bay Area regional offices and served as the National Program Manager for Quality. Mr. Taniguchi was recognized by IBM with the President's Award for his work on quality improvement. Mr. Taniguchi earned his Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Mathematics from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and has served in the United States Peace Corps.

Dennis Y. Teranishi
Business Advisor

Mr. Teranishi is President and CEO of Hawaiian Host, Inc., the largest producer and marketer of chocolate covered macadamia nuts in the world. Mr. Teranishi brings to Hoike a wide range of expertise ranging from strategic planning and management to international sales and marketing to acquisitions. Presently, Mr. Teranishi serves as a Board of Director for some of Hawaii's leading organizations and businesses including the Pacific International Center for High Technology Research, Economic Development Alliance of Hawai`i, Island Insurance Companies, Inc., and Hawaiian Host, Inc. He also serves on the Advisory Board for Kamehameha Schools and the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, University of Hawaii.

Before joining Hawaiian Host, Inc., Mr. Teranishi was a business consultant specializing in business evaluation, re-engineering and organizational development. Prior to business consulting, Mr. Teranishi spent 19 years at AMFAC, ending his tenure at AMFAC as the president of AMFAC Agribusiness, Inc.

Mr. Teranishi received his Masters degree in Soil Chemistry and Plant Nutrition from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and his Bachelor's degree in Crop Science from the California State Polytechnic University. In 1993, he was recognized as an outstanding alumnus of the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources at the University of Hawaii.
